HeRong New Energy Contributes to the Successful Commissioning of Shaanxi Province's First Thermal Storage Frequency Modulation Demonstration Project.

On the evening of May 9, 2025, Shaanxi Province's first thermal storage frequency modulation demonstration project was officially launched. As a major breakthrough for Shaanxi Province in the field of integrated application of new energy storage technology and thermal power, it holds great significance for enhancing the power grid's frequency modulation capability and advancing the transformation of the energy structure.

This project adopts a hybrid energy storage solution consisting of "5MW/6min supercapacitors + 15MW/15MWh lithium iron phosphate batteries". It fully leverages the advantages of supercapacitors, such as high power, long service life, and fast response, which significantly reduces the charging and discharging pressure on lithium batteries and extends the overall service life of the system. Not only does this improve frequency modulation efficiency, but it also markedly lowers the whole-life-cycle cost. The solution provides a better option for the coordinated regulation of thermal power and energy storage, effectively addressing issues of thermal power units such as slow response and low ramping rate, and greatly enhancing the frequency stability of the power grid.

The 25MW super - capacitor energy storage system of Jiayuguan 500MW/1000MWh independent energy storage project was successfully shipped.

The Jiayuguan 500MW/1000MWh Independent Energy Storage Project is located in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province. As China's largest independent energy storage power station equipped with supercapacitors, its energy storage system adopts a hybrid energy storage design that combines a lithium iron phosphate battery system and a supercapacitor system.

As a crucial component of this project, the supercapacitor system consists of 20 energy storage cabins with a specification of 1.25MW/60s. These cabins adopt the standardized non-walk-in design independently developed by Hex Rong New Energy. Featuring mature technology and high integration, this design can effectively save space and improve system operation efficiency, while also ensuring high safety and reliability.

The successful delivery of this project fully demonstrates Hex Rong New Energy's strong capabilities in the R&D and application of hybrid energy storage technology. Compared with a single lithium battery energy storage system, the supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system has better advantages in terms of response speed, inertia support, primary frequency modulation and other performances. At the same time, it can optimize the operating conditions of lithium iron phosphate batteries, improve the battery cycle life, and truly achieve the effect of "1+1>2". After the project is put into operation, it will greatly enhance Gansu Province's ability to absorb new energy power, improve power grid security and frequency characteristics, and have a far-reaching impact on the development of the local power system.
